Rebranding a pharmaceutical research company.
This is a conceptual rebranding project with an aim to elevate the current visual identity and reflect the company's new global reach. Known for its Covid-19 vaccine, Moderna has been pioneering a new class of medicines made of messenger RNA, or mRNA. Before the pandemic, Moderna was a specialized player familiar to the scientific industry. With the international rollout of its vaccine, the brand has become globally known but its branding remained unchanged.
After an extensive audit of the brand and its competitors, a conceptual refresh was proposed to enhance Moderna’s image. The overhaul is centered around the impact of Moderna’s discoveries on real people. and making the science behind the brand more familiar to everyone. The new wordmark logo has greater versatility and allows the brand to be easily distinguishable and remembered. Its typeface features curves resembling the DNA structure. The concept of an underlying line has been elevated and transformed into a sophisticated and dynamic visual language.
